Disclosure

The short version

  • If you buy a product through a link on this site, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.
  • Nobody pays us to write or score a review, and we don’t accept free products from manufacturers.
  • Our reviews are research-based. We don’t claim hands-on testing unless a review explicitly says so and shows our own photographs.

How we make money

Ossaward.org is reader-supported. Many outbound product links on this site are affiliate links – if you click one and make a purchase, the retailer or manufacturer pays us a commission at no additional cost to you. Some product links are routed through our own /goto/ redirect links so we can manage and track them.

As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Commissions never affect our verdicts, scores, pros/cons, or ranking order. We regularly recommend against products we could earn commission on, and our review archive reflects that.

This disclosure is made in accordance with the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255).

What we don’t do

  • We do not accept payment, sponsorship, or other compensation in exchange for a review, a score, or placement in a comparison or roundup.
  • We do not accept free or discounted products from manufacturers or PR agencies.
  • We do not let manufacturers preview, edit, or approve our content before publication.
  • We do not change a verdict because of an affiliate relationship – or the lack of one.

How we actually review products

We want to be straightforward about our method, because most review sites aren’t.

Our reviews are built from structured research, not hands-on lab testing. For each product we analyze:

  • Verified owner reviews and complaint records – retailer reviews, Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, and app-store ratings where relevant, collected and dated at the time of writing;
  • Manufacturer documentation – specifications, manuals, warranty terms, and regulatory filings (for example FDA 510(k) clearance status on medical devices);
  • Independent research – published studies, standards, and third-party lab results where they exist, cited and linked in the article;
  • The marketing claims themselves – we check what the manufacturer promises against what the evidence actually supports, and we say plainly where a claim doesn’t hold up.

Where a review reflects hands-on experience with a product, the article says so explicitly and includes our own photographs. If a review doesn’t say that, assume it is research-based.

We update reviews when prices, versions, policies, or facts change, and we date-stamp what we verified and when.

Pricing

Prices and promotions change frequently, especially for products sold through promotional funnels. Any price we quote reflects what we observed on the date stated next to it. Always confirm the current price with the seller before purchasing.

Health, safety, and money

Nothing on this site is medical, veterinary, or financial advice. Reviews of health-related devices and supplements describe published evidence and owner experiences — they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation. Talk to your doctor (or vet) before buying or using any health product, and never use a consumer product as a replacement for prescribed treatment or emergency care.

Corrections

If you find a factual error on this site, we want to fix it. Contact us through our contact page and include a link to the page. We review every correction report, fix verified errors, and note significant corrections on the page itself.
