What Is the Zippi Sweeper?
The Zippi Sweeper is a battery-powered, cordless floor sweeper. Unlike a vacuum, it does not use suction. Instead, it uses mechanical rotating brushes.
Think of it as an automated, highly upgraded broom. It features a unique triangular head designed specifically to navigate around chair legs, into tight corners, and flush against baseboards. It is marketed toward busy parents, pet owners, and older adults who need a lightweight cleaning tool that doesn’t strain the back.
Key Features & Benefits
- Triangular 360-Degree Head: This isn’t just for looks. The triangle shape allows the sweeper to pivot effortlessly. You can slide it under the edges of your kitchen cabinets where round or square vacuums simply cannot reach.
- Triple-Brush Technology: It features three rotating brushes on the bottom. As you push, the brushes spin inward, grabbing debris and flicking it into the internal dustpan.
- Bagless Dust Tray: You don’t need to buy vacuum bags or sticky wet pads. You just push a button, and the trap door opens, dropping the dirt directly into the trash.
- Ultra-Lightweight Frame: Weighing under three pounds, it is effortless to carry up and down stairs.
How It Works (Step-by-Step)
Using the Zippi Sweeper is incredibly intuitive:
- Charge the Battery: Plug the unit into the wall using the included adapter. A full charge takes a few hours.
- Power It On: Tap the foot pedal power switch (no bending over required).
- Sweep: Push the unit over debris. The brushes spin and funnel the mess inside.
- Empty: Hold the unit over your garbage can and squeeze the release tabs. The bottom opens, dropping the debris.
Real-World Testing & Performance Analysis
I put the Zippi Sweeper through a series of stress tests to see where it shines and where it fails.
Test 1: The Kitchen Floor (Hardwood/Tile)
I scattered coffee grounds, dry oatmeal, and dog kibble on a laminate floor.
- Result: Flawless. The Zippi Sweeper grabbed the large kibble without snow-plowing it, and the edge brushes swept the coffee grounds away from the baseboards and into the tray.
Test 2: Pet Hair
I tested it against golden retriever hair.
- Result: It picks up hair incredibly well. However, because it uses mechanical brushes, long hair eventually wraps around the axles. You will need to take a pair of scissors to the brushes every few weeks to keep them spinning freely.
Test 3: Carpet Test
I tried it on a thick, high-pile living room rug.
- Result: Poor. The sweeper bogged down. The motor isn’t designed for the heavy resistance of thick carpet fibers. It works okay on flat, low-pile entry mats, but it does not replace a carpet vacuum.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Glides beautifully around furniture and corners.
- Phenomenal for hard floor crumb and hair pickup.
- Saves money (no Swiffer pads or vacuum bags).
- Extremely quiet compared to a vacuum.
- Foot-pedal power switch saves your back.
Cons:
- Long hair requires manual untangling from the brushes.
- Ineffective on thick carpets.
- The dirt tray is relatively small; requires frequent emptying.
Comparison: Zippi Sweeper vs. Swiffer Sweeper
| Feature | Zippi Sweeper | Swiffer Sweeper |
| Cleaning Method | Rotating brushes grab 3D debris | Sticky pads grab dust and hair |
| Large Debris (Kibble) | Excellent | Fails (pushes it around) |
| Ongoing Costs | Zero (Reusable tray) | High (Requires pad refills) |
| Corners/Edges | Superior (Triangular head) | Average (Rectangular head) |
Verdict: If you only need to pick up fine dust, a Swiffer is fine. If you deal with crumbs, food spills, or cat litter, the Zippi Sweeper is vastly superior and cheaper in the long run.
User Reviews & Community Feedback
To ensure my experience wasn’t an outlier, I analyzed hundreds of verified buyer reviews across Amazon and home-maintenance subreddits.
- Common Praise: Seniors rave about the weight. Many reviewers mentioned buying a second unit for their RV or upstairs bathroom because of how convenient it is.
- Common Complaints: The most frequent complaint matches my testing: people who bought it expecting it to deep-clean their carpets were deeply disappointed.
Pricing & Value for Money
At roughly $40, the Zippi Sweeper falls into impulse-buy territory. When you factor in the cost of disposable cleaning pads over a year, the Zippi Sweeper essentially pays for itself in a few months. It is aggressively priced and offers high value for its specific use case.
Is Zippi Sweeper Legit or a Scam?
The Zippi Sweeper is a 100% legitimate product. It is a real mechanical sweeper that performs exactly as advertised on hard surfaces. The only “scam” complaints come from third-party resellers on eBay or unauthorized Amazon sellers shipping damaged units. Always buy directly from the official website to ensure you get the manufacturer’s warranty.
Who Should Buy It?
Buy it if:
- You have mostly hardwood, tile, or laminate floors.
- You need a quick way to clean up after messy toddlers or pets.
- You have back problems and can’t push a 15lb vacuum daily.
Skip it if:
- Your home is mostly carpeted.
- You want a device to deep-clean fine dust from rugs.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Does the Zippi Sweeper work on carpets?
It works adequately on very flat, low-pile carpets and entry mats, but it will stall and struggle on plush, medium-to-high pile carpets.
How long does the battery last?
A full charge provides about 45 minutes of continuous sweeping. For most people using it for quick 5-minute daily touch-ups, a single charge will last over a week.
Do I have to buy replacement bags?
No. The Zippi Sweeper is completely bagless. It has a built-in trap door that empties directly into your trash can.
Final Verdict
The Zippi Sweeper isn’t going to replace your heavy-duty vacuum for deep spring cleaning. But for the 90% of cleaning we do every day—chasing dust bunnies, grabbing spilled cereal, and sweeping up tracked-in dirt—it is an absolute game-changer. Its triangular design actually works, and the convenience of a cordless, lightweight frame makes daily chores significantly less annoying.
